LG’s Curved TVs are Making a Comeback

If you haven’t guessed by now, the TV industry can be quite fickle with its technology trends, and 2017 has been no exception to that rule as reports have surfaced claiming that LG will be bringing back their curved TV line to the market again. But why? And why now? To answer those questions, we’ll have to examine how this idea came about in the first place and how it fell flat on its face.

A brief history of curved TV sales

Samsung released the first curved TV in 2013 and now LG is bringing them back with their new line of OLED TVs. A lot has changed in the tech industry since then, but one thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that curved screens provide better viewing angles and make you feel like you’re actually at an event. A lack of competition for this type of screen has kept prices high as well. People who have owned these types of televisions say they never go back to flat screens after experiencing how great it feels to watch something on a curved screen, so there could be demand for these products yet again if LG markets it right. The reasons behind the decline in curved TV sales

Sales of curved TVs declined because they were not popular with the general public and they were expensive. They were not popular because they required large living spaces to be used, which most people don’t have. They also took up more space on the wall than flat screens do, so it was difficult to find room for them in many people’s homes. The curved screens were also more susceptible to glare from windows or lights.

How curved TVs can still be useful

Curved TVs were all the rage a few years ago, but then they just sort of disappeared. Well, LG is about to bring them back. The company plans to introduce new versions of its curved OLED and LCD screens at CES 2018. The idea behind the design is that it helps give depth perception and better viewing angles in general. The curvature dramatically enhances the picture quality, according to LG’s senior VP of home entertainment Ken Hong. As for how it will fit into modern living spaces, Hong has this to say: I think people are now looking for more innovative designs. People are now enjoying online casino games in their smartphone as well.

LG’s latest consumer electronics products

We’re excited to announce LG’s latest consumer electronics product: the UJ7700! The UJ7700 is our new flagship 4K HDR TV, with features like Dolby VisionTM, Dolby Atmos®, and LG ThinQ® artificial intelligence.

The UJ7700 is also our first curved TV in years! And while this model might not be too different from previous ones we’ve released, it does have some fantastic new features that make it worth the upgrade.

Will you upgrade your TV?

When I bought my first TV, I was so excited. I spent hours researching and comparing models, then I drove to the nearest Best Buy to make my purchase. Nowadays, with so many new TV models coming out all the time, it can be hard to keep up with the newest technology. That said, it seems like LG has been covertly bringing back curved TVs (a design that fell out of style in the early 2000s) and it looks pretty cool!
